Heather Jameson

US Patent Agent Trainee

Patent professional since 2025, with Espatent since 2025.

I entered Espatent and the field of patent law as a US Patent Agent Trainee. My daily work involves bridging the US patent law and chemistry in-house expertise. I carry out actions involving the USPTO, building on my own broad international chemistry research background.

Graduating from a porous nanomaterials PhD with a focus on custom ligand synthesis and characterization, I shifted into life science technologies spanning protein engineering to biomass utilization. Alongside the above journey I detoured into agricultural fieldwork research and a government internship, this experience being a career highlight as I delighted in travelling the path of science and technology from policy to real-world to lab. I am excited to now continue into intellectual property at the early edge of human invention and commercialization.

My eclectic science history has always involved brushing up against the law, be it hazardous substances, biodiversity or GMO lab specifications and I found compliance and arguing exceptions a favored part of my work. I look forward to applying my skillset and passion to protecting and progressing novel science into the world.
