Patent professional since 2021, with Espatent since 2021.
I ended up at Espatent by a lucky coincidence at the end of 2021. Before working with patents, I was an academic researcher for approximately 7 years. I graduated as a Doctor of Science (Tech.) in the field of engineering physics from Aalto University (FI) in February 2021. I have passed the Finnish Patent Attorney examinations in the early 2024.
My background is originally in biochemistry, but I have specialised in materials science, especially functional and reactive matter, fiber engineering and nanocomposites. In addition, I have a master's degree in management and international business. Versatile scientific background and interdisciplinary work experience have turned out to be highly valuable in the daily work as a patent attorney.
At Espatent I work broadly with different technologies related to mechanics and ICT, especially focusing on surface deposition technologies and devices as well as semiconductors. However, I can manage also chemistry related projects, for example, coatings, fiber engineering and renewable materials. I find this versatility to be one of the best parts of working as a patent attorney. In the future, I am particularly interested in learning and deepening my knowledge concerning patent litigation and other patent disputes.
