Ioana Stefan

I was first introduced to the patent field many years ago, surrounded by people working in the area. Throughout my studies, my passion for science and curiosity about the intersection of research, law and business naturally led me to a career in patent law, driven by a desire to see how innovation is developed and protected. In the spring of 2025, I began my own journey in the field when I joined Espatent.

My background is in chemistry, with a focus on synthetic and analytical chemistry. Before joining Espatent, I worked in biomolecular research at the University of Helsinki, specializing in the synthesis of tear film lipid libraries to support the development of improved diagnostics and treatments for ocular surface diseases.

The interdisciplinary approach of my studies has equipped me to navigate diverse technical areas and rapidly understand new technologies. I am drawn to the opportunity to learn from experts across a variety of fields while contributing to the protection and advancement of scientific innovation.
