Espatent in a nutshell
Founded in 2006 by Sampsa, Sanna, and Samu, Espatent employs today a total of 24 patent professionals. Our operations are based on goal-oriented expertise, and uncompromised confidentiality. Responsible and people‑centric practices have been important to us from the very beginning.
Espatent’s history
Founding year
Samu, Sanna and Sampsa – three young and enthusiastic European Patent Attorneys – founded Espatent on 31 March 2006. The business was, quite literally, built from a blank sheet of paper. The first premises were located in Otaniemi, Espoo.
Moving to Kaivokatu
In 2007 Espatent relocated to Kaivokatu, Helsinki. The location proved to be a long‑term base, with Espatent’s offices located there in two different premises until 2025.
Expanding to chemistry
The company expanded into the field of chemistry when Kirsikka Etuaho joined the team in 2011, followed by Jukka Taskinen in 2013.
Establishing the US department
Espatent’s US department was established when Matthew Swanson joined the team in 2023.
Relocation to Kaisaniemenkatu
After careful consideration, Espatent relocated new offices on Kaisaniemenkatu in 2025.
20th anniversary
In 2026, we celebrate 20 years of Espatent.
